What is a flower?

In my spiritual background as a Swedenborgian...a flower is not just a flower. Flowers and all of nature have a deeper meaning. After coming home from Flowerfest last weekend and thinking of all the weeding I was doing, I thought about what a flower really means. According to one author who is often referenced in the church (John Worcester), "flowers of the mind are a spontaneous expressions of good feelings." "Annual flowers are like the oft-recurring promptings to be good, to be gentle, to be modest, patient, hopeful, cheerful, grateful..." So flowers are a reminder of what's good in our lives and especially what's good in our lives because we know it all comes from God.
From the "Dream Moods" website: To see colorful flowers in your dream, signifies kindness, compassion, gentleness, pleasure, beauty, and gain. It is also symbolic of perfection and spirituality. Your dream may be an expression of love, joy and happiness.

Again, flowers in our lives remind us of what's good and to be good as often as we can. As I continue to reflect on my time in the garden weeding, prunning, cutting back, replanting, etc. I still think of how I am doing this in my life. Where can I be more spiritual? What weeds to I need to get rid of?

This week, I've really been looking at the fear I created in my mind as a child regarding certain things and how this program has been running for more than 20 years...holy moly!!! Got to get rid of those weeds for sure!! It is this fear that is keeping me from blossoming into my full potential. It is the ego (or natural state for the Swedenborgians reading this!) that keeps me believing in my fear and that it's real. After all, I've got 20 years of evidence, right? More like 20 years of bad programming! However, I'm not blaming myself or anyone. I am simply taking the opportunity in front of me to dig to the root and toss that weed!!

Many blessings,
Jenn
